In the industrial field, mesh screens play a particularly important role. They're designed to filter or separate materials from other things. If you're looking to purchase these mesh screens for your next project, be sure to consider these factors first. 

Quantity 

In order to get a better estimate of how much you'll pay for mesh screens, you must first think about how much you need. Is your industrial project large-scale and will it take a couple of months to complete? If so, you'll need to order these mesh screens in bulk. In this case, you'll pay more for shipping since freight trucks most likely will be used. 

However, if you only need these screens for a one-time use and your project is relatively small, you may only need one or two mesh screens. You'll save a lot on shipping, and often times the screens will arrive much more quickly. 

Type of Weave 

There are several different types of weaves you can select from regarding mesh screens. Most screens have what's known as a plain weave. This is where warp wires weave underneath the horizontal shute wires all the way down the mesh screen. The over-under approach gives the screen extra strength, which is needed if you're sifting through heavy substrates.

Twilled weaves are also fairly common today, and they are unique in that the warp and shute wires pass over two and under two. Since these wires go in the same direction, the mesh screen is much more flexible and forgiving structurally. 

Mesh Count 

Perhaps one of the most important factors to assess when looking for the right mesh screen is mesh count. This is the number of openings the screen has per inch. Measurements start from the center of the screen until one inch. 

Some of the most standard mesh count sizes available today include 20 x 20, 8 x 8, and 4 x 4. Obviously, the larger the mesh count, the more openings a screen has. When thinking about which mesh count you need, think about what's being filtered. If you're trying to separate small items from substrate like dirt and sand, it's recommended to go with a large mesh count.

Choosing a mesh screen for your industrial projects is not as simple as choosing one on a whim. You need to take the time to assess important screen attributes and know what types of materials you're trying to filter/sift through.
